While this might look highly frustrating to you, there is no need to despair. You can repair your favorite shades of nail polish within a few minutes, by following some simple suggestions. First of all, be prepared for the fact that all nail polishes do get thick or clumpy in the course of time. Along with that, just keep in mind that once a nail polish is thinned out, it does not always stay that way. You will have to keep an emergency thinning kit ready at all times, in your refrigerator. All said and done, check out some amazing tips to how to thin fingernail polish. Get ready to take immediate action on your thick fingernail polish and be prepared for any recurrences.

Tips To Thin Out Your Nail Polish

    * Shake the bottle of nail polish well. Try turning it upside down, so that the color that might have settled at the bottom of the bottle gets distributed throughout. Gently roll the bottle in your palms for ten minutes. The mild warmth that spreads from your palms to the bottle might warm up the nail polish and help thin it. This usually works when your nail polish has just begun to get thick.
    * You can add a few drops of nail polish thinner/ remover and shake the bottle gently. Remember that the components of a remover are not made to go with nail polishes. Therefore, do not add too much of the same, as it might make your nail polish either too runny or completely unusable. It is preferable to use an acetone-based nail polish remover, if you would like to thin nail polish.
    * Take a little acetone or shellite and add an equal part of orange oil to this solvent. Blend the mixture well and add a few drops of the same to the thick nail polish. Shake the bottle well and leave for ten minutes, for the solvent to thin it out. Remove the brush from the bottle of nail polish to check whether it is thin enough. If it is not thin enough, add just a couple of drops more. Do this until the desired consistency is reached.
    * A few drops of paint thinner, added to your thick nail polish, will also aid in thinning it out. After all, the basic properties of nail polish are similar to that of paint.
    * If you would prefer to get an actual nail polish thinner, there are many brands from which you can make your choice. The primary ingredients of most of these thinners are Toluene, Ethyl Acetate or Butyl Acetate. Go ahead and take your pick.
