How To Wear Perfume Properly

  • How To Wear Perfume Properly

  • The application of perfume is almost an art and a good number of people go wrong when it comes to wearing their perfume properly. Application of perfume in the right way will allow it to stay longer and you won’t have to bother yourself with having to apply it twice or thrice during the day. Since buying an expensive perfume is usually believed to be worth the money spent on it, it has to be applied properly to extract the maximum worth. The article dwells at length on how to wear your favorite perfume properly and brings forth some valuable tips on the same. Read on to know how to perfume yourself the right way.
    Tips To Apply Perfume Properly
    • Make sure that you apply perfume to your body after a bath/shower as your skin is clean and is capable of absorbing the fragrance better and more thoroughly.
    • The golden rule to remember while applying perfume is that less is more. The fragrance should attract people to you rather than repulse them. In case you are using a splash, moisten your fingertips and dab the perfume on the pulse areas, such as wrists, neckline, behind the earlobes and neck, on your chest, elbow area, behind your knees and in your inner thighs.
    • In case you are using a spray perfume, dab some on pulse areas from one foot away for an even distribution of the fragrance. You can also try forming a perfume cloud by spraying it into the air 2-3 times. You just have to ‘walk’ right in the cloud to absorb the fragrance in entirety.
    • You should perfume your body from bottom up. This technique will allow the perfume to last longer and you will not need to re-spray it time and again during the day.
    • People with dry skin do not retain scent as long as those with oily skin. This can be attributed to the ability of the oils in the skin to join with the perfume oils resulting in the slowing down of the process of evaporation. Therefore, people with dry skin should apply the perfume twice or even thrice. Alternatively, they can apply a good moisturizer on their skin before the application of perfume.
    • It is important to allow the scent enough time to dry. A lot of people apply perfume and immediately dress on which rubs some of the perfume off and prevents the absorption of the fragrance by the body. Most perfumes take about an hour to develop with your natural scent.
    • Take the weather into consideration. Scents tend to last longer on hot summer days, while the effect in cold weather is just the opposite. You will have to vary the amount of perfume you wear in each season. Apply a little more or apply twice during winters.
    • Take care that you don’t mix smells. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion and other products that you use produce a mix of fragrances, which makes it difficult for perfume to stand out. Try to use the body products that have a similar fragrance as that of your perfume, though it may not be possible all the time. You can definitely use products of the same brand.
