Applicants applying at the U.S. Consulate, Mumbai need
to submit their Application Packet to VFS Application
Centre - Mumbai, Ahmedabad or Pune a minimum of 3
working days prior to the scheduled appointment date and
carry the Additional Supporting Documents at the time of
the interview:
Application packet to be submitted to VFS
Copy of the first and last page of your current valid
passport. If you have any observations on your passport
please submit a copy of the observation page also. You
are recommended to have passport valid for travel for at
least six months beyond your date of entry into the U.S.
One photograph as per specification.
DS-160 Confirmation Barcode printout.
Original interview appointment letter.
Copy of Notice of action (Form I-797).
Dependant applicants must submit a photocopy of their
principal applicant’s Notice of action (Form I-797)
along with their visa copy.
Visa renewal applicants must submit a copy of the
previous expired US visa stamped on their passport.
Additional Supporting Documents required at the time of
interview

Copy of interview appointment letter and DS160
Confirmation Barcode Page,valid HDFC bank fee receipt
(Applicant’s Copy) and all Original Passports
Original, approved form I-797 from the Department of
Homeland Security.
Applicants must prove that they are working as a
minister of religion, or in a religious vocation or
occupation, for a bona-fide, non-profit religious
organization or denomination that is exempt from
taxation.
Proof that you have been a member of the religious
organization for at least two years prior to your
application.
A contract from the employer in the US as well as in
India and proof, such as bank statements, that the
employer is able to support the applicant above the
poverty line.
Recommendation letters to further support the case of
the religious worker.
IRS-supplied proof of the tax-exempt status of the
religious organization in the US.
Evidence that you are qualified for the work designated
in the US.
Documents showing arrangements for financial support.
Spouse / Dependent :
Copy of interview appointment letter and DS160
Confirmation Barcode Page,valid HDFC bank fee receipt
(Applicant’s Copy) and all Original Passports
Marriage certificate in original and the entire wedding
photo album.
Original, approved form I-797 from the Department of
Homeland Security of the Principal Applicant.
Photocopy of Religious Worker’s R1 visa (if applying
separately)
Evidence of financial support for the entire family.
Copy of the contract between the employer and the
Religious Worker in the US
Original Birth certificate (for each child).
Note: US Consulate General Mumbai is unable to provide
on site parking for visa applicants. Additionally,
Mumbai Police may enforce no parking restrictions for
street side parking throughout Bandra Kurla Complex.
Visitors are advised to utilize public transportation ,
unless alternate non parking arrangements can be made.
