Science and Science Fair Projects
The word science comes from the Latin word ‘scientia’
meaning knowledge. Science refers to the system of
acquiring knowledge through organized research or
scientific methods.
“Equipped with his five senses, man explores the
universe around him and calls the adventure Science.”
The quote by Edwin Powell clearly explains the word
science
Science projects have got a very important role in
helping science students to understand the concepts and
principles of science. Science projects give their mind
a new phase to explore and an opportunity to apply their
knowledge in practical sense. Students should be
motivated at an early age to increase their inclination
towards science projects. Schools has got a key role in
the promotion of practice of making science projects,
Project fairs are held at least once in a year to
promote and develop the practical and analytical mind of
students.
Techonology and Science Projects
Technology and Science Projects
In India’s curriculum science is divided into three
major subjects – Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The
science projects are generally based on one of these
subjects. Few projects often use concepts from more than
one subject and they not only explain the concepts used,
but also interlink between them.
Physics is a branch of science dealing with matter and
its motion. It also deals with its position in space and
time concepts. Physics deals with energy, charge and its
flow (electricity), mass etc. Physics is entirely based
on the natural process and is an attempt to study them
systematically. Science projects for physics are based
on one or more principles and fundamentals of the
subject they should be designed and conducted in such a
way that they are able to explain the fundamentals in
easiest and practical way. The quote from a German
scholar Friedrich Nietzsche depicts the importance of
physics
“We must be physicists in order to be creative since so
far codes of values and ideals have been constructed in
ignorance of physics or even in contradiction to
physics.”
Chemistry is another major subject of science
curriculum. The word chemistry comes from an Egyptian
word ‘keme’ meaning Earth. Chemistry
Science Projects India
Science Projects
deals with the composition, internal bonding, structure
and properties of matter. Chemistry also deals with the
changes they undergo during chemical reactions. The
projects based on this branch of science generally deals
with chemical reactions and their effects on human
beings. Like an acid rain project can depict harmful
effects of the acid rain. While projects like silica
garden shows the growth of artificial plant like
structures which can be used for decoration purposes.
Biology, the third subject, completes the curriculum of
science. The word biology is composed of two words
“bios” meaning life and “logos” meaning to talk about.
So we can say that biology is all about talking (study)
about life. Biology deals with the stusy of living
things, it examines their structure, origin, growth
their evolution. Biology also deals with the
distribution of living things and their future threats.
The projects based on biology are generally models
depicted the various parts or different phases of living
things. Few projects deals with the effect of sunlight,
photosynthesis and other natural processes related to
living things.
