In India, marriage has a special significance, since it is believed to bring together not only two people, but two families as well. It involves a lot of customs and rituals, all having deep meanings behind them. Be it in the modern metros or the traditional villages, the significance of a marriage in India remains the same. There was a time when love marriages were frowned upon in the country and the union of two people, without prior consent of their parents, was simply unheard of. However, all that has changed with the passing time. Today, love marriage is as much a part of Indian culture as an arranged marriage. In this section, we have covered the various features of a wedding, in context of India as well as otherwise. Go through them and know more about weddings, a sacred ceremony that brings about a union of two souls.

Arranged cum Love Marriage
Along with time, the Indian society has witnessed substantial changes in the social and marital set up. Though most of the parents still remain staunch about their kind of arrange marriage, a wave of change have been brought by few parents who whole heartedly welcome the choice of their kids in their family.

Arranged Marriages
The concept of arranged marriage may sound impractical to the Western world, but in India, it is a usual norm. No matter how westernized India may have become, arranged marriages are still viewed as the most preferred choice in the Indian families.

Inter Caste & Inter Religion Marriages
Caste systems and racial discriminations act as a bane for progressive India. For years, the different societies of India, especially Hindu society have been divided on the basis of caste system and religion. The problem of caste system was so deep rooted that it took years for the Indians to come out of that idea.

Love vs. Arranged
Whenever we talk of Indian wedding we try to equate it with arrange marriages. In India the social structure is such that we associate Indian marriages mainly with arrange marriages. Most of us have the feelings that arrange marriage is the concept of Indian society.

Love Marriage
Have you ever tried defining the relationship between love and marriage? If yes, then you would have realized that both are synonymous to each other. Love is a dream and marriage is just an extension of this dream to reality.

Marriage Rituals and Customs
India is a land of diverse culture and religion. Every region of the country has its own unique way of celebrating their marriage. Be it east, west, north and south all the four regions have its own wedding customs and rituals. Marriages in India are not just coming together of two individuals and exchange of vows and rings

Marriages in Metros
Wedding is the most important celebration in one's life, as it marks the transition of a man from boyhood to manhood and a woman from girlhood to womanhood. In India, marriage is not just a social or religious obligation, but an institution, which teaches much about life and living.

Marriages In Indian Villages
India is a land of diverse culture and ethnicity, wherein the important occasions are celebrated in myriad ways. Throughout the length and breadth of the country, you will see that wedding is given a paramount importance in people's social life.

Changing Trends In Indian Marriages
The concept of Indian wedding has seen drastic changes, over the last few years. In the yesteryears, the ceremony was a brief affair, confined to an economical budget, even though the guest list was long.

Marrying Your Best Friend
Many people marry their best friend who they are passionately in love with. Many of them are satisfied in their decision as well, because they have found their soul mate in their friend, with whom they share a high comfort level.

Types of Hindu Marriages
Mythology says that there are eight different types of Hindu marriages. Historical records support this perception, by saying that some of these types of marriages were prevalent in ancient India, among the people following Hinduism.

What is Marriage
It is said that marriages are made in heaven and celebrated on earth. The popular belief is true to many extent, because it is a special bond shared between two souls, who tie the wedding knot after promising to be companions for a lifetime. It is the physical, mental and spiritual unison of two souls.

Marriage Problems
Just as we all know, life is not a bed of roses. Things do not work as smoothly as we expect them to. In such circumstances, we often change ways, make compromises, negotiate with the proceedings or sometimes, just stand stubbornly and let things fall apart. Marriage is the most beautiful relationship that happens to everyone at some point of time.
